Photo taken at 9:30pm from 5' away: owl was perched on Internet cable attached to our house. Also seen in maple tree off our balcony at 5:00am today.

Sony RX10 IV with fixed f2.4-4, 24-600mm (25x optical) zoom lens. This superzoom camera has a 1-inch, 20.1-megapixel sensor. The viewfinder is great, making it easy to find the bird. Zoom and auto-focus are very fast, making it more likely to get the photo before the bird is gone.

ReplyDeleteAs of late, my wife and I have been hearing one sporadically in our front yard around 10 or 11pm. I have yet to get a visual but I'm working on it.
Speaking of 5am, we have a regular Mourning Dove that loves to wake us up at that hour - not quite as exciting as WESO.
