I saw the resident Barred Owl at Tualatin Hills Nature Park this evening, just as it was getting dark. It was a very still, quiet, foggy and chilly evening, and I just happened to see the big bird fly silently in and land on a tree branch nearby. I could see its distinctive face through my binoculars, but could only capture this silhouette with my camera.
Probably also saw the same individual in October: http://portlandbirder.blogspot.com/2010/10/barred-owl.html

Have you tried to lighten the exposure with image processing software? I bet you could see some features if you lightened the image.
